1. Overview
This policy explains what information bare collects, why, and how it's used. bare is a small fan-made site — we collect the minimum needed to make accounts, personalization, and the tools work.
2. Information we collect
- Account information: the email address you sign up with, and a securely hashed version of your password (see Security below — we never store your actual password).
- Profile information you choose to add: display name, username, date of birth, and a profile picture (either a URL or an image you upload, which is stored as embedded image data).
- Preferences: theme colors, background animation and dot-effect settings, and your default Minecraft edition.
- Music player data: your saved queue and shuffle/repeat settings, if you use the built-in player.
- Feedback content: whatever you type into the Feedback form.
- AI chat messages: messages you send to the assistant are sent to our AI provider to generate a response; we don't otherwise store your chat history server-side.
- Technical/security information: your IP address may be logged when you create an account, request a password reset, or submit feedback, for abuse-prevention and security purposes.
3. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account, and let you sign back in;
- To save and sync your preferences and music queue across visits;
- To personalize what you see (your theme, your profile picture, your display name);
- To respond to feedback and improve the site;
- To detect and prevent abuse (for example, rate-limiting repeated feedback submissions);
- To generate responses in the AI assistant.
4. Third-party services we use
Certain features send limited data to third parties in order to work:
- Hosting & storage: the site runs on Cloudflare, which stores account and preference data.
- AI assistant: chat messages are sent to a third-party AI model provider to generate replies.
- Skin lookups: gamertags, XUIDs, or usernames you enter in the Skin Stealer tool are sent to public Minecraft skin-lookup services to fetch the corresponding texture.
- Music player: the built-in player embeds YouTube, which is subject to YouTube's own privacy practices.
- Sign-in with Google: if you use Google sign-in, Google shares your email address (and, if available, name and profile picture) with us to create or match your account, subject to Google's own privacy policy.
- Notifications: some account and feedback events are relayed to the site operator through a private notification channel for review.
5. Cookies & local storage
bare doesn't use tracking cookies. Your session token and a few display preferences are stored in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in and your settings persist between visits. Clearing your browser's site data will sign you out and reset local preferences.
6. Data retention
Account data is kept until you ask us to delete it. Some records are automatically time-limited: password reset codes expire after 10 minutes, and feedback rate-limit records expire after about a minute.
7. Children's privacy
bare is a Minecraft fan tool and may be used by younger players. We don't knowingly collect more information than described above, and account creation always requires an email address. If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided information beyond what's needed, contact us via the Feedback page and we'll remove it.
8. Your rights & account deletion
You can update or clear most of your profile information yourself from the Profile, Settings, and Preferences pages. To request deletion of your account and associated data, send a request through the Feedback page from the email address on the account.
9. Security
Passwords are never stored in plain text — they're hashed with a per-account random salt before being saved, so we can verify a login without ever keeping the original password. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable, standard precautions to protect your data.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as bare's features change. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
